It's almost time!

Are you getting excited? With less than 2 weeks until Lent, we hope you've had a chance to at least browse the book and get yours ordered for this study (if you haven't ordered yet, you can find it here).

To help you think through what this is going to look like, here's a break down of when we'll be discussing each chapter of the book (and you'll notice that some are fairly short).

  • March 1 (Ash Wed) - Chapter 1 (Introduction and Overview)
  • week of March 5, 2017 - Chapters 2 & 3 (Hidden Rules & Language Patterns)
  • week of March 12th - Chapters 4 & 5 (Conflict Resolution & Family)
  • week of March 19th - Chapters 6 & 7 (Money & Church)
  • week of March 26th - Chapters 8 & 9 (Whom and How we Help & Transitioning the Poor into Membership)
  • week of April 2nd - Chapters 10, 11, & 12 (Issues with Integration, Church Systemic Issues, & Assessing Resources)
  • April 9 (Holy Week) - Conclusion
What we hope to see in local churches are discussion groups forming (at the church, in private homes, over a meal or after church, etc) of people who read the book and come together to discuss their personal feelings, reactions to the ideas put forth, ideas for how this could apply in their local context, etc.  If you don't have many people local to you, feel free to post your comments and questions here!  Our staff will check in regularly and we'll be sharing blog posts from people on our staff and leaders around both Dioceses to get you thinking and talking.

We'll send out a weekly email on Sunday afternoons to give you an overview of that week's topic, including a link to this blog with teasers of who will be posting that week's entries (we'll be doing a blog entry for each chapter, so there will usually be two entries each week). We'll also be posting things on our social media channels (Episcopal Community Services and Episcopal Social Services) to generate some additional comments.  You're invited to share any of the links with friends/family/colleagues by email, on social media, etc. - the more people, the better the discussion!

Is there anything else you'd like to see? Let us know!
